The Choreographer

The Choreographer

Born in Bangor, Northern Ireland, Donna Revie began Irish dancing and ballet at the age of three. Training with the late Patricia Mulholland and Adele Sloan, she won her first championship when only seven years of age and became Northern Ireland Champion, a title she held for several years. As a member of the Patricia Mulholland Irish Ballet Company she performed throughout Ireland, in the chorus and then as a soloist.

In 1985, following success in ballet and tap exams, Donna Revie studied Dance and Education at Roehampton, London, where she achieved a BA honours degree and discovered her talent for choreography. On returning to Northern Ireland she began teaching and choreographing small productions for local theatre. In 1996 she created Celtic Images, her first full length artistic work, combining Irish dancing with ballet, tap and modern dance. This was followed by Beyond Reality in 1998 and the critically acclaimed Elementals in 1999.

Donna Revie's other choreographic engagements include the opening of the Odyssey Arena and for television the BBC's Children in Need and Making a Difference. In 2002 she was appointed resident choreographer for the BBC's John Daly Show.

In 2002 she was awarded the prestigious Dance Northern Ireland Choreographic initiative award.
She opened her own dance school which now has over 150 pupils, adjudicates regularly at festivals, including the Ulster Championships, and choreographs for television.
