Ulster Orchestra's Celtic Gala
Issue Date: 24th July 2008
Keiran Goss, Orla Lonergan and Ashleigh O'Neill prepare for the Celtic Gala
Kieran Goss, Foy Vance and Different Drums will be the headline acts appearing at this year’s Ulster Orchestra fundraising Gala on Saturday 20 September.
The Waterfront Hall’s main auditorium will be transformed overnight into a Celtic-themed venue for the Gala, immediately after the Orchestra’s opening concert of its new season on Friday 19 September. The groundfloor seating will be removed, the auditorium dressed and an army of caterers will move in to prepare for a five-course dinner and evening of entertainment for 300 guests.
The Ulster Orchestra’s Development Officer, Orla Lonergan, said: “The Orchestra gives many of its season concerts in the Waterfront Hall so it’s a home away from home for us. It’ll be a challenge to set everything up in less than 24 hours but we have a great behind-the-scenes team on board so I’m sure it will all run like clockwork!”
Tickets and tables are now available for the black-tie event, hosted by BBC Northern Ireland’s Ralph McLean with music played by the Ulster Orchestra and its special guests Kieran Goss, Foy Vance and Different Drums. An auction will be held to raise funds for the Orchestra, presided over by auctioneer Raymond Hill from Carryduff Auctions.
This will be the Orchestra’s third annual fundraising Gala with proceeds helping to fund its award-winning education and outreach programme. Previous events have taken place in the Ulster Hall and St George’s Market.
